Excellence in Science,
Technology, and Mathematics Education Week (ESTME) 2004
chooses ActionBioscience.org for its gallery of recommended
web sites
Washington, DC.
Excellence in Science, Technology, and Mathematics Education
Week (ESTME) is a yearly national event in the U.S. that
celebrates math and science learning. This year’s event is
scheduled to run March 15–20.
ESTME’s web site
describes planned celebrations, provides learning
activities, offers an “ask a scientist” opportunity, and
features a gallery of recommended web sites. Web sites are
listed under subject categories, such as “the physical
world” and “the universe.” ActionBioscience.org was selected
by ESTME staff and its partners for inclusion in the “living
things” category along with other respected web sites,
including PBS Evolution.
ESTME partners consist of
contributing government and other agencies and
organizations. They include the U.S. Department of
Education, U.S. Department of State, National Aeronautics
and Space Administration, Environmental Protection Agency,
American Association for the Advancement of Science,
National Science Foundation, and Carnegie Institution.
The ESTME site will be in
continual development until the event ends on March 20th.
During development, educational organizations and U.S.
government agencies will create and post activities and
events to help parents, teachers, and professionals excite
K–12 students about the opportunity to explore their world
through math and science learning. The site will also
include a letter from the president encouraging excellence
in these subjects.
